Watch the BBC Bitesize video and read the information sheet (both available at the bottom of this page) and take notes on Darwin's theory of evolution. Focus your notes on the following:
Who is Darwin?
What did people think about evolution before his theory?
What events happened or took place that led to Darwin creating his theory?
What is his theory?
How did people react to his ideas on evolution?
Look up any words in the video or from the information sheet that you are not sure about using an online dictionary.
Create a Boxing Up plan for an explanation text that will explain Darwin's theory of evolution.
Remember to include the following in your plan:
The number of paragraphs you are going to include
Vocabulary, Conjunctions, Openers & Punctuation for each paragraph (Challenge yourself to use Y6 appropriate punctuation where it is needed)
Subheadings for each paragraph
What images you will use and where to place them along with a caption for each image used
Use your Boxing Up plan to write up your first draft of your explanation text without putting the images in but leaving space for where you would them to go. Read it through yourself and edit and improve it. Pass it over to an adult at home for them to read through and ask them for 2 stars and a wish about your text.
Write up your explanation text on Darwin's theory of evolution using your edit and improvements, alongside your adult's wish. Include images as well to increase the impact on the reader. Please send them to me if you can, when they are finished.
